This Blog.

I have dabbled in blogging for the past 10 years, using it as a tool to express emotions/concerns, sharing my interest in fitness, as well as updating friends and family on my second kidney transplant, in 2011.  It is with mixed emotions that I am restarting this blog to once again begin the journey into yet another kidney transplant (that's right, that makes three...).

Almost three years ago, my numbers (blood work, blood pressure, etc.) started to slowly show signs of distress.  My body had started to slowly create antibodies against my second transplanted kidney.  During this time, I had a biopsy done of my kidney to look at any scarring, or obvious signs of what may be causing the fluctuating in numbers, and nothing really stood out as the main reason for the chronic rejection.  I tried a few different types of chemo (not necessarily the cancer chemo, but part of the same family) in IV therapy to see if that could help jump start my system - there wasn't really a change.  So over the last three years, the focus has been playing around with my meds to try and control my blood pressure, water retention, hemoglobin, etc. (all related to kidney function) to see how long we can prolong the life of the second graft (transplant).  And we got three more years.

So, after recently celebrating my 6th anniversary (March 9th!) for my second transplant, I am gearing up to do it all over again...round three.  And once again, I will be turning towards the blogging world to not only keep you in the loop of my journey, but to find an outlet to process my ups, my downs, my fears, my frustrating and everything in between.  This is going to be one hell of a year...
